Hope to see you there!

This blog is my opportunity to share information, thoughts, and opinions about the yarn and fiber world.  I will write about the development of the yarns from wools I find at local northwest farms.  I find high quality wool from farms that hand raise their sheep as if they were family!  The raw materials are local and great to work with.  Since I am an avid knitter, developing my own yarns and seeking out fibers seemed like a logical and creative next step.  Although the natural colors are beautiful by themselves I also develop colors and hand dye the yarns.

The small community of Jorstad Creek is found on the shores of Hood Canal on highway 101.  I found myself stopping at this wide spot in the road because of the incredible view, and the little fishing shack next to a sandy spit that reaches into the water.  For some reason this simple, quiet place set me to dreaming about what I would do if I took my hobby and made it a business.  Developing a product that supports the hardworking shepherds and farmers of the northwest made sense to me.  Since this daydream of mine started at Jorstad Creek, I named my company after the place that launched it all.

I hope you will check back for updates!

  2. Hello. I met you at Black Sheep. I couldn’t find an email address for you on this site, nor was one on your business card, but I wanted to let you know I am talking about you in my July 24 blog. (Only good things!)
